Little did we think that an idea that found its start in our living room would turn into one of America’s best author events!

In 1997 Books Ink embarked upon a venture to create a first-class event to expose others to new and bestselling African-American authors. We accomplished that with the establishment of the Literary Luncheon. This twice a year event, held in April and November, is now in its 10th year. During that time we’ve hosted over 60 authors from around the country along with musical, spoken word and dance talent.

As we move into the next decade we plan to make our events even more spectacular. Yet we will always stay true to our original mission which is to continue to support the literary talent in the African-American community that is often overlooked by the “mainstream” publishing industry.
